This yellow-flowered magnolia is a cross between M. acuminata var. subcordata and M. x brooklynensis ‘Evamaria’ developed by the Brooklyn Botanic Garden in 1981. Flowers emerge in late spring along wih the foliage after the danger of frosts. 'Yellow Bird' reaches a mature size of 20-40ft tall and 10-25ft wide.
