Plum Methley (a cultivar of Japanese Plum) is very easy to grow and heavy bearer. It blooms white flowers in mid spring followed by reddish purple, rounded plums in abundance. The flesh is red, mild, sweet juicy. It perfect for eating fresh, to make jelly, jam, or dehydrated into prunes. It is self-fertile and having another same kind next to it will produce heavier crop. Fruits will be ready to harvest in Summer. Plant it in full sun and well-drained soil. It matures to 12-20ft tall and wide but it can be pruned at desired size.

Plums require minimal pruning, which should be done after flowering when the tree is still leafless. In maturity, prune mostly to let the light into the tree's center and encourage a moderate amount of new growth for the following year's fruit. About 20% of the new growth each year is removed to rejuvenate the tree and control spread. Hand-thin the fruits (if crop is heavy) so they are 5inches apart.
