Plum Santa Rosa Plant
Plum Santa Rosa Plant
Plum Santa Rosa (a cultivar of Japanese Plum) is one of the most popular Japanese plums. It blooms pinkish-white flowers in mid-late spring followed by reddish purple, rounded plums in abundance. The flesh is yellow, mild, balanced blend of sweet & tart and very juicy. It perfect for eating fresh, to make jelly, jam, or dehydrated into prunes. It is self-fertile and having another same kind next to it will produce heavier crop. Fruits will be ready to harvest in Summer (July). Plant it in full sun and well-drained soil. It matures to 12-20ft tall and wide but it can be pruned at desired size.

Plums require minimal pruning, which should be done after flowering when the tree is still leafless. In maturity, prune mostly to let the light into the tree's center and encourage a moderate amount of new growth for the following year's fruit. About 20% of the new growth each year is removed to rejuvenate the tree and control spread.
Hand-thin the fruits (if crop is heavy) so they are 5inches apart.
